The agreement, sponsored by Egyptian Minister of Electricity & Water, Dr. Hassan Younes, will enable AREVA T&D to access the large 66 kV air-insulated market in Egypt, which is currently restricted to local manufacturers. EGEMAC will also benefit from the high performance and reliability of AREVA T&D’s circuit breakers and disconnectors.

An official signing ceremony was held on October 13, 2004, which top Ministry personnel and members of the media attended. Dr. Younes gave a small speech to present the agreement and to highlight the keen interest of both parties in extending their cooperation to more products. Marco Graziano, Regional Vice-President for AREVA T&D in Africa and the Middle East, similarly highlighted the importance of having EGEMAC as a local partner and expressed the division’s intention to pursue further product cooperation.
