AREVA T&D India Wins Technology Award

AREVA T&D India has won the 'Technology (Process) Adaptation, Upgradation, Efficiency and Innovation Award in Transmission and Distribution' for designing, installing and commissioning India's first 765 kV EHV circuit breaker, using state-of-the-art technology for NTPC-Super Thermal Power Substation, at Sipat, Chhattisgarh.

The 765 kV circuit breakers were delivered and system-integrated via the Chennai manufacturing facility. This gave a global dimension for this innovative product, which is simultaneously manufactured and delivered from the Indian and French facilities.

The Enertia Awards 2007 took place on Thursday, November 1, 2007, at the Y. B. Chavan Auditorium in Mumbai. The awards were aired by NDTV Profit in arrangement with Falcon Media, publishers of Enertia-India's Leading Journal on Sustainable Energy & Power.

The chairman of the jury was Mr. R. V. Shahi, former power secretary of the Indian government. Other prominent jury members included Mr. C.P. Jain, Former CMD of NTPC; Mr A. B. Giri, CEO of Power L&G; and Mr. T. C. Arora, Director of Toshiba.
