AREVA T&D wins the largest industrial upgrading project in Bahrain

AREVA’s Transmission & Distribution division has been awarded a contract worth approximately 70 million euros by ALUMINIUM BAHRAIN (ALBA), the largest aluminum producer in the Middle East, for the design, manufacturing and commissioning of ten transformer-rectifier groups each 37 kA 1200 V.
 
The equipment will be installed in ALBA plant located in Bahrain and will replace existing units. This is the largest industrial project of upgrading launched in Bahrain.
 
AREVA has been present in the region for more than twenty years. Local economic growth considerably benefits to the group’s Transmission and Distribution division (T&D).
 
Philippe Guillemot, AREVA T&D’s Chairman and CEO, said,”Through this contract, AREVA confirms its capacities and expertise in the modernization of existing smelters. The new equipment will fit in the same space than the old one, while providing a rating increased by 45 %, and the installation will be done without slowing down the aluminum production.
