Transmission and Distribution: AREVA signs major contract with Spanish railway administrator, Adif

AREVA’s transmission and distribution division (T&D) has secured an order worth approximately €20 million to supply Adif [1], the Spanish State company in charge of all national railways infrastructures, with autotransformers for the high-speed network.
Adif is part of the Ministry of Infrastructure and plays a major part in the promotion and improvement of the railway sector. Throughout Spain, AREVA T&D will supply and install 147 Traction Autotransformer units, which will improve the efficiency and reliability of electricity transportation over the new high-speed railway system.
AREVA T&D is the leading expert in traction autotransformers in Spain. It has collaborated in the supply of more than 300 units to Adif over the last 10 years, with 116 units delivered in 2008 alone. With this new order, AREVA T&D reinforces its position as the exclusive supplier of autotransformers for high-speed trains in Spain.
Ghislain Lescuyer, AREVA T&D Senior Vice President Products Business said, “With 80 years’ experience, and thousand of autotransformers installed worldwide, this contract confirms our leading expertise in transformers design and manufacturing.”
