The MiCOM P591, P592 and P593 units are stand-alone fiber optic to electrical communications interface units.
Used alongside the P54x and P52x Current Differential Relays, MiCOM P591, P592 and P593 units securely connect to remote pulse code modulation multiplexing equipment. The internal modem used in the interfacing device ensures fast operation of the differential protection. Sophisticated connection and synchronization functions? This range of MiCOM stand-alone units enables the P54x and P52x Current Differential Relays to be connected to remote pulse code modulation (PCM) multiplexing equipment.A GPS synchronizing module allows GPS time synchronization for the P545 and P546 Current Differential Relays when used in Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH)/ Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) communications applications. These units provide secure communications on unconditioned twisted pair pilot wires for use with P52x Current Differential Relays. The interfacing device accepts EIA(RS)485 from the P521 and uses an internal modem to drive a 4-wire signaling link, ensuring fast operation of the differential protection. Flexibility, secure connections and clear visualizationThe MiCOM P591, P592 and P593 range offers the flexibility to use current differential protection over integrated services digital network (ISDN), multiplexers and modem connections. Its loopback facilities can be used to simplify the differential scheme test. The range also provides clear visual indication for easy diagnostic and testing.
